Organic for All Initiative

Because healthy food must be considered a HUMAN RIGHT.
Because access to healthy food must be guaranteed for EVERYONE, regardless of income.

We demand that Switzerland, a country known as a defender of human rights, become an example where every citizen, regardless of financial situation, has the choice to eat healthily.

To achieve this goal, we propose:

  1. Increase the sale price of so-called “conventional” foods (containing pesticide residues) by including the external costs linked to their production and consumption.

  2. Make the following information mandatory on the packaging of conventional products:

    • The names of the pesticides, insecticides, and fungicides used.

    • The number of species threatened by these substances.

    • The long-term health risks for consumers (such as potential diseases), modeled after the warnings given before a surgical procedure.

It is essential that every consumer be fully informed about the implications of their food choices, both for their own health and for the health of the planet and its biodiversity.

In addition, we demand that:

  • The State actively supports organic farming by subsidizing organic farmers. This will allow them to cover their costs while rewarding their contribution to public health and ecosystem preservation.

  • Switzerland commit to restoring the balance of ecosystems, increasing biomass, and restoring biodiversity, which have been destroyed by harmful agricultural practices in the past.

Why this is essential:

It should not be up to consumers alone to bear the financial burden of preserving our planet. Ecosystems play a key role in regulating the climate.
Each hectare cultivated under organic, biodynamic, or permaculture farming absorbs up to 10 tons of CO₂ per year.
By contrast, conventional farming produces an equivalent amount of CO₂ per hectare.

We no longer have any excuses. Switzerland must become a model for the European Union and the rest of the world. We have the means to bring about meaningful change in the face of the climate crisis through our food choices. Let us act together before it is too late.
